Journal Entry

Math will stay with us forever after we graduate high school and college. My plans following high school is to graduate college and go into psychiatry. Im not quite sure what math is all involved but i assume like most other jobs there is hidden math involved. I will use math when i am shopping to figure discounts and the new total of objects. i will probably use it in presentations in the future to show charts and graphs and stuff like that. As you can see math is never leaving me anytime soon!

If I could be the teacher for the day I think there would be many things that i would like to do. I would probably start with some fun game that would wake people up and get all there talkingness out!Then assuming I was a math tacher and had to get something done and would go on with teaching the lesson. For examples I  would have some people go up to the board and show how they got their answer because as you know everything is way more fun when its done on a white board. Thinking that i only had about 10 minutes left in class i would pair everyone up with partner and have them work with a partner on their homework to make sure there was no other questions while comparing answers. And the rest would be for them to finish at home. The End!

i would have to say that if there was a word that we have learned this year that will help us is equation. Yes it is a very easy and simple term but yet it is ever so important to our daily math life. An equation is the problem we use to set up to find the correct answer. (in my own words) if there is no equation given, in some cases the answer may be almost impossible to find. if there are certain numbers in the equation we dont have there is no possible way to come up with the correct solution. that is why i choose equation as my word for this weeks journal.

there are many different ways to solve math problems. first i look closely at the problem and instructions and dissect the question. then i follow the rules of please excuse my dear aunt sally. if the probem is unfamiliar to me i usually look in the book or in my notebook t follow the steps. afterwards most of the time i check my work over but if i really want to get done  i normally skip that part. and that is my method of solving problems.

Journal #12

There are many ways that we can use math in real life. Sometimes there are even cases where we dont even realise that we are doing math. For example when we are shopping to find the discount in prices to see if it is worth buying or able to afford it. Another way is tracking the sales of a buisness on a graph to see if there is a steady increase or decrease in the sales. Most jobs in the future will for sure use math as one of the top aspects, some useing it everyday. Math is all around us and will stay with us for the rest of our lives no matter what we decide to do.

When we are able to work with partners I either seem to get a lot more work done then I normally would or get absolutly nothing done. As you have probably seen in class. It is nice to work with a partner on something that is more difficult because we are able to check answers often and if I dont understand why i got the problem wrong my partner can explain it to me. In the case that we both get different answers on a problem, we each explain how we got the answer and see who went wrong and where. If nothing can be resolved we go to ask you, as you have also seen in clase!

Math journal

When we are asked to put a math problem on the board, i mostly excited but a little nervous at the same time. Im excited because writting on the board is so much fun. Im a little nervous however, knowing that the "spotlight" is on me. And I know that if i got that problem wrong i would be a bit embarressed! It always helps to know that there are other people besides me so i am not as self consious. So over all it is a more good experiance than a negative one.
